In this line of work, it brings me a great amount of joy being able to be a part of my loved one's special moments. A couple weeks ago, I had the honour of providing the decor for a wedding shower at the stunning Glenerin Inn in Mississauga. At this event, I was able to try out some fun new trends and introduce some elements that have become a part of the Iris Moon inventory.
A trend that is emerging in the world of weddings and events is having a Flower Bar at your event. This gives your guests an interactive experience, having an array of cut flowers, baby's breath and greenery to build their own beautiful bouquets to take home. Having this feature also serves as an alternative to the traditional party favours that often get forgotten. For this particular event, I focused on 2 aspects: 1. Incorporating the bride's favourite flower (which in this case, is carnations) and 2. ensuring the flowers are seasonally appropriate.
The main instruction I was given for the centerpieces was simple and minimal. With white carnations (again, the bride's favourite) as the focal point, I made a last minute decision to use blue baby's breath for a subtle splash of colour in a variety of beautiful bud vases. Vintage candle votives were used to apply a little depth to the centerpieces, spreading it slightly to fill in the gap between the flowers and the guest's seating.
On the stage at the far end of the room, I set up a backdrop with lush greenery and an assortment of white flowers. Placing the 2 gold flower stands in front off to the side, it gives the illusion of the greenery cascading down continuously. This backdrop was complimented by the thick greenery outside the big, beautiful windows, ultimately enhancing this element, tying the whole design together. You know the backdrop is a hit when the bride and groom come up to you and request you recreate it for the wedding day!
Overall, every component used in this event came together in a simple, minimal and elegant way.
